NSW $15,000 Interest-Free Battery Loan: Income Limit Drops on 10 November

If your household earns between $150,000 and $210,000, you have days, not weeks, to get in on the NSW Government's zero-interest battery loan.

Right now, NSW homeowners with a combined household income of up to $210,000 can borrow up to $15,000 at 0% interest for a home battery. From 9am on 10 November 2026, Brighte says that limit drops to $150,000. Applications need to be submitted before then to be assessed under the current limit.

Before 9am, 10 Nov 2026 From 9am, 10 Nov 2026
Household income limit $210,000 or less $150,000 or less
Loan Up to $15,000 at 0% Up to $15,000 at 0%

Here's how the loan works, who qualifies, and what to do this week if you want to lock it in.

What is the Home Energy Saver loan?

It's part of the NSW Government's Home Energy Saver program. Approved lenders offer loans of up to $15,000 per property with no interest. Brighte, one of the first lenders on the program, offers loans from $2,000 to $15,000 over up to 10 years, with no establishment or monthly account fees.

The loan covers a range of upgrades, including:

  • Solar battery storage
  • Rooftop solar
  • Heat pump hot water
  • Reverse-cycle air conditioning
  • Induction cooktops
  • EV chargers
  • Switchboard upgrades

You can combine upgrades in one loan, as long as the total stays at or under $15,000. If your project costs more, you pay the difference.

Who is eligible?

To qualify, you must:

  • Own the home (owner-occupier or landlord)
  • Have a property in NSW
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Have a combined household taxable income of $210,000 or less (dropping to $150,000 from 10 November 2026)
  • Pass the lender's credit and serviceability check

Renters, social or community housing and short-stay rentals can't apply. Strata properties need the owners corporation's consent.

What batteries qualify?

Under the program guidelines, your battery must:

  • Have more than 5kWh of usable capacity
  • Come with at least a 10-year warranty
  • Be installed at a home that also has solar
  • Be on the Clean Energy Council's approved product list
  • Be installed by an accredited installer and sold by a New Energy Tech approved seller

Our Sumray battery systems tick these boxes, with 28kWh of storage and a 15-year warranty.

Can I combine it with the battery rebate?

Yes. Eligible federal and NSW incentives are taken off your price before the loan is applied. That means your rebate lowers the amount you need to borrow, so $15,000 at 0% goes further.

Lower-income households may also qualify for a separate Home Energy Saver discount of up to $4,000 (coming soon). If you're eligible for both, apply for the discount first. If you take the loan first, the discount can't be used on the same purchase.

How to apply

  1. Get a quote from an approved supplier like Aussie Solar Batteries.
  2. Apply online using the link your supplier sends you, with proof of ownership and income.
  3. Accept your loan once you're pre-approved, and book your install date.
  4. Get your battery installed. The lender pays the installer directly, and your repayments start.

Two deadlines you can't miss

  1. 10 November 2026, 9am: the loan income limit drops from $210,000 to $150,000. If your household earns between the two, your application needs to be in before then.
  2. 1 January 2027: the federal battery rebate drops. It's set by your install date, not your booking date, so getting installed before Christmas means a bigger rebate and less to borrow.

Miss the first deadline and you may lose access to the 0% loan altogether. Miss the second and the same battery costs you more.

Don't leave it to next week. Call Aussie Solar Batteries on 1800 975 270 today. We'll get your quote to you fast, so you can submit your loan application before the income limit drops.
